Nothing works without members in our clubs! Therefore, the most important goal for several years is to strengthen the membership. We are talking about the commitment of the existing members, the acquisition of new members and the good integration into the clubs. Valuable references to this topic under the following link:

Here are some figures for District 1980:

Age trend: The largest membership group is 70 and older with 1,213 members, followed by 50 to 59 year olds with 1,181 members and 60 to 69 year olds with 1,036 Rotarians. For those under 40, we have only 203 members; for those between 40 and 49, we have 558. For our district to be able to do much good in 10 or 20 years, we urgently need to rejuvenate.

Growth: 2018/19: +62 Rotarians; 2017/18: +16 Rotarians; 2016/17: +14 Rotarians. Last year's good growth is mainly due to the founding of the Basel International Club with 28 members. Our percentage of women, 536 or 12.8%, is higher than in previous years, but still well below the international average of 22%.

Development in the last 5 years: 229 members died, 314 members resigned. To achieve the net growth of 149 Rotarians, we had to acquire 692 new Rotarians! These figures show how important it is to find new members in order to remain a strong and active organization for decades to come.
